In accordance with the unified deployment of the National Health Commission, the 26th Chinese Medical Team to Mozambique, organized and dispatched by the Sichuan Provincial Health Commission, officially set off on October 25. Dr. Yang Dan, an attending obstetrician from our hospital and a member of the medical team, embarked on the journey to the Maputo Central Hospital in Mozambique to carry out a year-and-a-half-long national medical aid mission. Staff from the International Exchange and Cooperation Department (Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Office) were present to bid her farewell.

Before her departure, Vice President Chen Qiu highly commended Dr. Yang Dan for actively responding to the nation’s call and courageously undertaking the mission of medical aid abroad. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to her family for their strong support. He encouraged Dr. Yang Dan to fully leverage the professional advantages of traditional Chinese medicine in the field of obstetrics, serve the local people with her exceptional medical skills, and demonstrate the professionalism and humanistic care of Chinese TCM practitioners. Her efforts will contribute to advancing medical and health cooperation between China and Mozambique and strengthening the friendship between the two peoples. At the same time, the hospital will provide comprehensive logistical support to ensure the well-being of the medical aid team members and serve as their strong backbone.

Medical aid missions are an important measure for China to fulfill its international humanitarian responsibilities and deepen friendly cooperation with Africa. Dr. Yang Dan’s participation in this mission is a concrete reflection of our hospital’s continuous involvement in the nation’s medical aid efforts and a vivid practice of promoting TCM globally. Generation after generation of TCM practitioners have embarked on journeys across oceans, not only sharing the wisdom and techniques of Sichuan-style traditional Chinese medicine but also embodying the spirit of the Chinese medical team—"fearing no hardship, being dedicated to service, healing the wounded and rescuing the dying, and showing boundless compassion." Their efforts continue to contribute Sichuan’s TCM expertise to advancing China-Africa health cooperation and serving the cause of global health.
