Founded in 1992, Oncology Department I is the earliest specialty of integrative medicine for oncology in Sichuan and Southwestern China. It is a key construction specialty in Sichuan Province and a member of the Southern Chinese Medicine Cancer Alliance. At present, it has developed into an integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine oncology treatment center integrating medical treatment, teaching and scientific research. With strong technical force, the department is the largest tumor diagnosis and treatment center in traditional Chinese medicine hospitals in Sichuan and Southwestern China. At present, our department has 28 medical staff, 3 Chief physician, 1 associate Chief physician, 1 famous Chinese medicine expert in Sichuan Province, 1 guiding teacher for inheriting the academic experience of the fifth batch of old Chinese medicine experts in Sichuan Province, and 3 old Chinese medicine academic heirs.
The annual outpatient visit of the department is more than 50000, with 71 beds and more than 1800 inpatients. The ward mainly receives chemotherapy, intervention, targeting, immunity and other comprehensive treatments for lung cancer, Esophageal cancer, stomach cancer, colon cancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, kidney cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer cancer, ovarian cancer, Cervical cancer cancer, endometrial cancer and other malignant tumors. As one of the advantageous diseases in the department, lung cancer has led the establishment of the Sichuan Provincial Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Major Diseases (Lung Cancer) with Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The department places equal emphasis on the integration of traditional Chinese and Western medicine to achieve personalized treatment. In modern medical treatment, emphasis is placed on using biomarkers as guidance to develop the best personalized treatment plan for patients, and modern medical treatment methods including chemotherapy, immunization, targeting, hyperthermia, intervention, etc. have been carried out. In traditional Chinese medicine treatment, combining traditional Chinese medicine theories such as yin and yang, five elements, qi, blood, body fluid, and visceral symptoms, utilizing the syndrome differentiation systems of the six meridians, eight principles, and zang fu organs, adhering to the core of "syndrome differentiation and treatment", fully utilizing the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine in enhancing efficacy and reducing toxicity, and integrating traditional Chinese medicine treatment throughout the treatment of malignant tumors. On the basis of oral administration of traditional Chinese medicine, various methods including traditional Chinese medicine fumigation and washing, traditional Chinese medicine collapse stains, traditional Chinese medicine ironing, appoint application, acupuncture, and moxibustion have been carried out Various traditional Chinese medicine treatment methods including ear acupuncture. It has achieved remarkable clinical effects in the treatment of patients with advanced tumors, the prevention and treatment of adverse reactions of anti-tumor treatment (surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, Targeted therapy, etc.), and the prevention of postoperative recurrence and metastasis.
Our department adheres to the principle of "high-quality care" and adheres to the principle of putting people first. Under the leadership of the nursing department, a responsibility based holistic nursing system was implemented and awarded the title of "Quality Nursing Ward". While strengthening basic nursing, we also focus on the development of specialized nursing, and have trained multiple tumor specialized nurses and intravenous therapy specialized nurses. With the leadership and support of the hospital, PICC catheterization was first carried out throughout the hospital in 2011. Currently, there are about a thousand PICC catheterization cases per year. In 2018, an outpatient catheterization maintenance room was established, with over a thousand catheterization patients maintained annually. In 2012, the TCM nursing plan was implemented. The implementation rate of the TCM nursing plan for lung cancer, gastric cancer, breast cancer and intestinal cancer in our department reached 100%. Through living guidance, dialectical diet, emotional care, Chinese medicine medication guidance, disease prevention guidance and other methods, the TCM treatment and nursing were effectively applied to the treatment of tumors, and achieved remarkable clinical efficacy.
After more than 20 years of development, the department has formed a "medical education research" integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine tumor system. In long-term clinical practice, a scientific and standardized integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine tumor treatment system has been summarized and established. It has achieved significant therapeutic effects in preventing postoperative recurrence and metastasis, prolonging the survival time of advanced malignant tumor patients, and improving quality of life, reaching the advanced level of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment of tumors in China. Our department currently has 4 master's degree supervisors, and annually trains about 20 graduate students and resident physicians in the field of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine oncology. In the past 5 years, I have led research and participated in 4 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 8 projects at the department level, and published over 80 academic papers in domestic and foreign journals, including more than 10 SCI papers and more than 20 papers in Chinese core journals of Peking University.
