Brief introduction
The Department of Respirology is one of the earliest-established departments in our hospital. After decades of development, it has become a well-known department with comfortable environment, advanced equipment, famous doctors and advanced technology. It is a key medical specialty in Sichuan Province.
Excellent Experts: We have a medical and nursing team of more than 40 staff, all of whom have received professional education and training. Most doctors have master's degree or doctoral degree. We have 27 senior titles, 10 intermediate titles, 3 experts enjoying special government allowance of the State Council, 3 national excellent TCM doctors, 14 famous TCM doctors of Sichuan Province, and 4 doctoral tutors. Two of our staff are elected vice chairmen and 10 acquire Standing Committee membership in national professional associations.
Advanced techniques and equipments: We have more than 100 beds, 7 outpatient clinics, 1 studio of famous doctor, 2 pulmonary function examination rooms, respiratory endoscopy center and pulmonary rehabilitation room. Our department is equipped with advanced equipments such as lung function instrument, ventilator, fiber and electronic bronchoscope, autofluorescence bronchoscope, ultrasonic bronchoscope, endotracheal ultrasound probe and other diagnostic equipments, high-frequency electrotome, endoscopic argon knife, multifunctional cryotherapy instrument, etc. We can carry out respiratory endoscopy diagnosis and treatment technology such as the detection and evaluation of lung function, bronchoscopy, lung biopsy, alveolar lavage, autofluorescence bronchoscopy (AFB), transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA), endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA), bronchoscopic argon knife treatment, high-frequency electrocoagulation, transbronchial cryotherapy, stent placement, balloon dilatation, foreign body removal and large volume whole lung lavage.
Dominant diseases
Our department fully inherits and carries forward the valuable experience of TCM and make the best of advantages of Chinese and Western medicine to complement each other in treating common respiratory diseases, difficult and critical diseases, especially for infectious diseases, chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic pulmonary heart disease, asthma, pneumonia, chronic cough, pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer, pulmonary embolism, pulmonary tuberculosis and respiratory failure TCM dialectical treatment of refractory pneumothorax and intractable pleural effusion. We adopt characteristic TCM therapies, such as acupoint application, TCM foot bath, ear acupuncture, moxibustion, ointment, etc. They are very safe and can achieve better curative effect than that of single western medicine, and are widely accepted by patients home and abroad.
Education
As one of the firstly-approved departments to award master and doctor degree on respirology, postdoctoral research station, national standardized training center for TCM residents, our department has received overseas students and has trained more than 20 doctoral students, 500 postgraduates and 30 residents.
Scientific Research
As a national GCP center, we have completed clinical trials on more than 10 new drugs. We take charge of or participate in more than 30 scientific research projects above provincial level such as National Natural Science foundation of China, National Science and Technology Major Project of the 11th and 12th Five Year Plan and more than 20 scientific research projects of bureau level. More than 200 papers have been published, among which 8 papers are included in SCI. More than 20 patents have been applied, three of which have won science and technology achievement award of Sichuan Province, two of which respectively won the second and third prize of science and technology progress award of Chengdu.
